In this major, you’ll receive a broad-based liberal arts background, along with education courses that prepare you to teach children in preschool through fourth grade.

Through three field work placements and a student teaching experience, you’ll gain knowledge and skills necessary to work with young children in a variety of educational settings. You’ll learn to understand and value a diverse population of students and to fully realize the vital and necessary work of a teacher.

Course work at Alvernia is designed to meet the new Pennsylvania State Department of Education and national standards, and will prepare you for certification in Early Childhood Education.
