The Computer Science program at Benedictine University will help you to develop a strong foundation in computer science coupled with an understanding of its application to mathematics, science or business through a core of 14 required courses.


The Computer Science program at Benedictine University allows you to choose electives that allow you to concentrate on the basic study of the theory and applications of computers, scientific and technical applications, or applications for the business programmer or systems analyst.

The College of Science operates a multiprocessor Linux cluster which is used for research in all of the sciences. In addition, Benedictine University provides access to more than 200 personal computers across campus. These computers run Microsoft Office as the standard productivity tool.


Your knowledge of computer technology and its applications will make a career in government, business, industry and education available. Application software development, software engineer, systems software development, network administration, database management and consulting are just a few of your possible employment opportunities. 

Benedictine Computer Science graduates have a proven record of success. Many of our graduates are selected by their employers to pursue a master’s degree in computer science. Others go on immediately to graduate school in computer science or related areas.
