Overview

With the Stage and Screen Track, actors graduate with a wide tool box of skills, that will allow them to pursue opportunities in contemporary theatre, classical theatre, musical theatre and film and television.

With the On-Camera Track, actors graduate as content creators, not just actors, ready to write, direct act in and edit their own digital content.

Production Opportunities

While at the Acting degree from Oklahoma City University, students will have several production opportunities throughout their four years.

On average, the schools of Dance, Music & Theatre and the resident professional Children’s Theatre produce 50+ productions per year. Between theatre for young audiences, contemporary theatre, classical theatre, opera, musical theatre, student-produced theatre, and dance & choreography shows, there will be plenty to audition for!

BFA Actors also have opportunities to be cast in Capstone films, and will be producing several fully realized on-screen projects over their four years

Teaching and learning is structured around preparing our artists to venture from the classroom to the stage and screen.

Students will also have opportunities to direct through Stage II (stripped-down black box shows), Out of the Box (student-produced theatre), and OCUedge (staged readings).

Programme Structure

Courses include:

Classical/shakespeare

We believe if you can perform Shakespeare, you can do anything. With over 200 paying Shakespeare festivals in the country, a student well-trained in classical work will always be a commodity.

On-camera

OCU offers two semesters of on-camera training, which is a semester more than most programs. We know the best-paying jobs in our field these days have a camera attached to it.

Musical Theatre

Even though this is an Acting degree, there is a great focus on musical theatre skills. Students are required to take private voice with Wanda L. Bass School of Music faculty and dance classes with the Ann Lacy School of American Dance & Entertainment.
