Course Description

Students in the Department of Art & Design at Eastern Illinois University enjoy access to dedicated faculty, exceptional facilities and excellent career preparation. The art department offers both Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree programs. In addition to its exceptional undergraduate degree offerings, the department offers unique graduate programs: Master of Arts (MA) Studio Art, Master of Arts (MA) Art Education or Community Arts options.

The Art degree program from Eastern Illinois University has options in art history and art studio with emphasis in either two-dimensional media or three-dimensional media. More information regarding each degree option is available on that option's program page, found under the "Degrees / Options" tab in the top menu bar.

Each option is designed to provide the student with in-depth experience and knowledge in a variety of studio techniques, art theories and historical perspectives. The Department of Art & Design is an accredited institutional member of the National Association Of Schools Of Art And Design (NASAD).

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 2.5

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 2.5 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
