Career Pathways and Prospects

The Digital Media program at the University of the District of Columbia unique blend of internships, theory and hands-on classes prepare graduates for further studies, freelance careers and entry-level media positions. Potential media careers include working as a journalist, editor, (both print and electronic), writer, audio designer, radio tech/D.J., digital media designer, audio-video technician, digital editor for film, video, and online, videographer and documentary film director and more.

  • Our graduates often find work in the government (D.C, and Federal). In addition, there are opportunities at one of the area’s many national and international news companies including the following:
  • Cable Channels: Headquartered in DC — Discovery Communications, Travel Channel, The American Film Institute (AFI), C-SPAN, Voice of America (VoA)
  • Cable Channels — National Geographic, BET, China Central TV (CCTV), Sirus XM Radio, National Public Radio (NPR), Public Broadcasting Service (PBS)
