Overview

In addition to classroom work, students acquire foreign language proficiency through individualized learning and research projects with professors, field experiences, campus programs, internships and study abroad opportunities. Majors of the Bachelor of Spanish program of The University of Tampa are required to take an annual proficiency exam designed to assess the progression of their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, as well as their cultural awareness.

Students are encouraged to participate in international study and travel experiences. Opportunities include summer study programs in Spain, travel-study courses to countries such as Costa Rica, semester- and year-long programs in Mexico and other countries, and numerous other study abroad options.
