There are many reasons why students choose the BLS degree. The most common reasons include:

Students enrolling in the Bachelor of Liberal Studies program of The University of Tampa select a concentration of courses, satisfy the general curriculum core and complete a prescribed number of general electives credits. Students may test out of some course requirements or apply for credit for work experience. Courses are offered in the day, evening and throughout the summer. Transfer courses can satisfy the BLS general curriculum core, concentration and general electives.

BLS General Curriculum Core

The BLS general core consists of courses that develop academic, critical thinking and public speaking skills. The general curriculum provides students the opportunity to go beyond the scope of their chosen concentration and complete course work in various disciplines to reflect a true liberal arts experience.

English (ENG), Journalism (JOU) and/or Literature (LIT)

Language (any of the languages)

Philosophy (PHL) and/or Religion (REL)

Communication (COM) (courses designated "Humanities" only)

Writing (WRI)

General requirements

Official transcripts of all secondary school coursework and grades translated in English.

Essay written in English.

A recommendation written by a counselor, teacher or headmaster.

English language proficiency scores.

International students also must furnish proof of available funds to cover their first year of study (including miscellaneous expenses) and each subsequent year.

Upon admission to the University and satisfactory completion of the financial statement, an I-20 form will be sent to applicants from UT’s admissions office.
