Overview
The French program from University of Central Arkansas educates students to understand the profound relationship between language and cultural identity that underlies true cross-cultural competency. Since we cannot truly understand people of other cultures without some knowledge of their language, we encourage our students to examine how language influences and affects cultural perspectives.
Graduates with French from University of Central Arkansas will:
- Proficiently control the four fundamental language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
- Develop critical understanding, empathy, and respect for other cultures.
- Function effectively in a changing global community.
- Stress the relevance of the study of language, culture, and literature to career preparation.
- Develop a lasting appreciation for language and literature as a means of broadening their understanding of human experience.
