Overview

Completion of the Interior Design program of the Southeast Missouri State University enables graduates to complete two certifications. 1. National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) Because we are accredited by the NKBA, graduates are eligible to take the certification exam, and they also are exempted from the normal two-year experience requirement. 2. National Council for Interior Design (NCIDQ Accreditation by the NCIDQ qualifies students to take the certification exam after two years of full-time experience with a NCIDQ certificate holder.

Interior Design graduates often choose work in the following areas: healthcare design, hospitality design, residential design, sustainable design, kitchen and bath design, and lighting design. Examples of job titles include residential interior designer, kitchen and bath designer, commercial interior designer, color consultant and space management consultant.

What You'll Do

Interact with qualified faculty in a small class environment.

Be prepared to take the AKBD and NCIDQ national certification exams.

Have access to an experiential learning lab with iPads, group study workstations, and access to latest technology and software.

Have the opportunity to complete work on real design projects with actual clients.

Successful completion of Level 5 of Southeast’s IEP.

English proficiency tests

Diploma from a U.S. high school

Diploma from an international school with U.S. regional accreditation

Diploma from IB curriculum school whose sole medium of instruction is English

Diploma from a non-U.S. high school/secondary education where English language is the sole medium of instruction.

SAT test score of 450 or higher on the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section.

A score of 21 or better Combined English/Writing score on the ACT Plus Writing test

Successful completion of Level 112 in the ELS Language School

Other proof of English proficiency may be considered on an individual basis.
