Overview
The Interior Design programme at Southeast Missouri State University provides students with a robust foundation in both the artistic and technical aspects of the industry. This degree is designed to prepare graduates for professional practice by combining theoretical knowledge with practical, human-centered design solutions.
Students engage in a curriculum that emphasises the health, safety, and welfare of occupants within various building environments. The course structure encourages the development of critical thinking and technical proficiency, ensuring that graduates are ready to meet the rigorous standards of the modern design profession.
Why Interior Design at Southeast Missouri State University?
The institution offers a distinctive learning environment where students benefit from small class sizes and direct access to experienced faculty members. Facilities include an experiential learning lab where students can work on real-world design projects involving actual clients and professional scenarios.
The programme is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA), ensuring the curriculum meets high industry standards. This accreditation also means the degree satisfies the educational requirements for students to sit for the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) examination.
Strong industry partnerships and a dedicated career services department help students secure valuable internships. These practical placements often lead to high employment rates, with many graduates finding roles in prestigious organisations such as Boeing, Restoration Hardware, and Habitat for Humanity.
