    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00. Academic Requirements

General Requirements

  • Submit the Common Application, including: essay, $65 USD non-refundable application fee
  • Submit your official high school or secondary school transcripts. If the transcripts are not in English, they must be translated.
  • Have your official SAT or ACT scores sent directly to Christopher Newport University. If English is not your native language, you must submit English proficiency exam scores.
  • Submit the Financial Resources Statement and official bank statements or affidavits. This is only required for international students who will need an F-1 visa.
  • Submit a copy of your current U.S. visa, if applicable. You may also be required to submit a copy of your parent’s visa or proof of employment.
