The Interior Design program is offered by Thomas Jefferson University has been ranked in the top ten in the U.S. and is known as one of the best CIDA accredited undergraduate programs in the field. 

With an emphasis on creativity, balanced with the knowledge and skills required for meaningful contributions to professional design practice, we instill in students an understanding of the global, cultural, social, aesthetic, technological, environmental and ethical responsibilities inherent to the design of interior environments.

The program is grounded in the belief that the interior designer mediates between human experience and the built environment and should enter the global marketplace as articulate, creative, inspired and socially aware design professionals. Our Bachelor of Science in Interior Design provides an extensive education to meet these demands. The curriculum encourages collaboration and integrates interdisciplinary experiences, broadening students’ knowledge of related fields. Our location in Philadelphia offers access to many design firms, providing opportunities for networking. Partnerships with community organizations and industry professionals give students a unique advantage with real clients and hands-on experience.

English Language Requirements

    The TOEFL iBT ® measures your English-language abilities in an academic setting. The test has four sections (reading, listening, speaking, and writing), each with a score range of 0-30, for a total score range of 0-120.

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00. General Requirements

To apply online as an undergraduate student, complete the Jefferson Online Application or Common Application and submit all supporting materials before the deadlines.

To be considered for admission to Jefferson (Philadelphia University and Thomas Jefferson University), first year applicants must submit:

  • $40 non-refundable application fee
  • Official high school transcript(s)
  • SAT and/or ACT scores. The PhilaU code for the SAT is 2666 and the ACT is 3668.
  • Letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor who can speak to your academic preparation and college readiness.
  • Essay of at least 250 words.
