Overview
The Sociology BA programme from University of Michigan - Dearborn students will gain an understanding of how the economy, government, family, education, religion, and related factors influence individual attitudes and behaviors.
Sociology majors have great flexibility to create a programme based on their personal interests and professional goals. Of the 31 credits in sociology needed for graduation, only three core courses are required. You choose the rest from groups of courses and electives. Depending on which courses you choose, you may study poverty and inequality; race, ethnicity, and immigration; urban sociology; race, ethnicity, and family; race, crime, and justice; and immigrant cultures and gender, among other subjects.
Sociology majors have the option of declaring a concentration in one of the following:
Applied and Community-Based Research
Diversity, Inequality, and Social Justice
Families, Well-Being and Social Welfare
