About

Where computer engineering is the intersection between hardware and software, electrical engineering is the hardware.  Those who major in Electrical Engineering at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology will gain an understanding for an electrical engineer’s application and design of systems incorporating electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism

Overview

What does a electrical engineer do?

Through the Electrical Engineering program at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, students establish a solid engineering foundation in circuits, electronics, electromagnetics, controls, signals, materials, communications, and power. Students majoring in electrical engineering become proficient in designing, building, and testing electrical products and systems. Do you want to develop prototype sensors used in NASA astronaut space suits? The hands-on and immersive experience is at the heart of this program.

Students studying electrical engineering at Mines can participate in the designing and building of drones, formula race cars, autonomouslunar robots, and Baja vehicles.
