Overview

As an Environmental Science major from the Trinity College you will acquire a firm grasp of the basic science needed to describe and understand the behavior of natural systems. After several introductory courses in environmental science, biology, chemistry, geology and sometimes physics or climate change, our students have a solid background in the relevant natural sciences.

They then take several upper-level courses in the earth sciences, biology or physics to deepen their understanding of environmental issues. Courses here include ecology, environmental or organic chemistry, earth systems science, a course on soils, or several biology courses such as botany, conservation biology or a course on invasive species.

Research Opportunities:

Many of our students are also involved in research.

They have investigated the effects of clear-cutting on soil chemistry, determined the home ranges of urban hawk populations, investigated the ecotoxicology of urban amphibian and reptile populations, and studied seed dispersal by horses or the impact of prescribed wildfires on soils.

The possibilities are numerous, and we highly recommend them to our students.

Trinity College accepts the Common Application.

A $65 application fee is required, and must be submitted online through the Common Application.

An official from your school should submit an official transcript that includes course work completed during the equivalent of grades 9 through 11, the Common Application School Report, and a report that shows grades for courses currently in progress.

If you have completed grade 12 and are currently in a postgraduate program at a high school or a foundational pre-college program at a college or university, we require documentation that shows your current academic progress.

We require only one academic recommendation as part of the application file. Recommendations from school counselors, high school teachers, and community-based organizations are welcome.

If you are applying for need-based financial aid, we require the CSS Profile.
