As a student in the French program of Gettysburg College, you’re encouraged to study abroad to build upon your understanding of French culture—and the world. We offer programs in Nantes, Paris, and Dakar.
Learning Outcomes
Students will demonstrate
- Language proficiency: at least [Advanced-low] in listening, reading, writing and speaking (as established by the ACTFL guidelines). In doing so, students will demonstrate high proficiency in understanding French grammatical systems.
- Textual competence: the ability to comprehend and analyze a wide range of texts, taking account of factors such as text type, audience, purpose, organization, discourse conventions, rhetorical elements, and linguistic features, as well as historical, geographical, cultural and intellectual context.
- Interaction within a community of practice: the ability to engage with members of the scholarly community on a variety of topics related to the French-speaking world.
