Overview

Areas of practice include working with children and families, people with substance use disorders and/or mental illness, those experiencing trauma, the elderly, disabled and other marginalized populations. A primary goal is to teach students to work in culturally affirming, anti-racist and strengths-based ways with all populations.

This Social Work program from Rhode Island College offers a strengths-based, student-centered, social justice-oriented approach to social work practice.

We help our students understand the importance of systemic injustice in the lives of our clients, and the critical work of alleviating it. We also provide high quality practice skills and two semesters of an internship to prepare students who are excellent practitioners and/or ready for graduate school.
