Overview

Offered jointly by the Atmospheric and Geological Sciences Department and Chemistry Department, this Geochemistry program from State University of New York at Oswego covers topics ranging from the chemical makeup of Venus to the search for oil on Earth. Courses cover general, historical and structural geology; mineralogy; petrology; and physical chemistry.

You can perform research with professors around the country, or learn firsthand about field-based research and much more in our Geology Field Program.

Facilities include four full-sized laboratories, a seismograph for recording worldwide earthquakes and a geology computer lab in the Shineman Center.

  • Submit transcripts: Mail all official college/university and secondary school transcripts (transfer applicants) or just your secondary school transcript (freshmen) to SUNY Oswego
  • Send in your English proficiency test scores: uccessful applicants will have a minimum English proficiency of 71 in TOEFL, 6.0 in IELTS, or 55 in PTE. 
  • Provide financial documentation: Send a copy of an original bank statement including a bank official's signature and stamp evidencing sufficient funds for the first year via email to the International Student and Scholar Services Office
