Overview

The Social Work program offered by Florida Gulf Coast University helps graduates to be equipped to work in a variety of public, nonprofit, and proprietary human service agencies.

Our University is the only one in Southwest Florida to offer this program and as a student in our program, you’ll gain real-world perspectives from professors who share their experiences from their days as practitioners. Also, we have a reputation for being rigorous and demanding while at the same time being student friendly.

In the junior and senior years, students will develop a core set of skills in case management, information and referral, and community organization which can be used in a variety of practice settings.

Graduates with B.S. in Social Work from Florida Gulf Coast University will be able to:

Apply social work ethical principles to guide professional practice.

Engage in diversity and difference in practice.

Advance human rights and social justice.

Engage in research-informed practice and practice-informed research.

Engage in policy practice to advance social and economic well-being and to deliver effective social work services.

Engage, assess, intervene, and evaluate with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities.

Graduates will demonstrate competence in strengths-based generalist practice and advanced clinical practice with diverse individuals, families, groups, organization and communities.
