Overview

The Exercise Science program offered by Florida Gulf Coast University embraces the study of the physical, social, emotional, intellectual and spiritual dimensions of movement. The program provides the opportunity for students to learn how the body responds to activity and exercise throughout the lifespan.

The Exercise Science program teaches students how the body can attain a higher level of wellness and/or increase performance capabilities, helping students to have the opportunity to become well-prepared practitioners in the applied sciences and in the health professions such as athletic training, physical therapy, occupational therapy, medicine, sports nutrition, and sports psychology.

Our students are eligible to sit for national certification exams through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).

Students in the Exercise Science Major are exposed to state-of-the-art equipment, our laboratories supporting the active learning style and applied scientific, integrated curriculum employed by our faculty.
