By challenging students to learn about people who are different, history teaches open-mindedness and respect for differences. The study of history provides a perspective from which to assess events of the present and prospects for the future.

Careers

The skills students learn in history—writing, analytical thinking, speaking, research—prepare them for success in numerous fields.

History majors at Agnes Scott College pursue careers in an almost infinite variety of fields. History is an especially desirable background for further study in law, library science, journalism and public affairs.

More directly associated with the discipline are careers in teaching, museum work, historic preservation and information technology, but many majors also pursue careers in business or social services.

Teacher Evaluation Form (teacher invitation sent via the Common Application)

Secondary School Report and International School Supplement from counselor or school official (invitation sent via the Common Application)

Official High School Transcript in English

Optional: SAT or ACT scores. Test scores are optional, and you may make the choice about whether or not you would like them to be considered. If you choose to do so, you can self-report your test scores by attaching your score report to the Common Application or uploading to your admission portal.
