Overview
The Environmental Engineering programme at University of California, Merced prepares students to become leaders in the design and implementation of technological management systems. This curriculum bridges the gap between scientific discovery and the societal necessity for protecting human health and ecological integrity. Students learn to develop creative, economical ways to use resources efficiently while limiting environmental residuals.
In the coming decades, professionals in this field will be increasingly responsible for addressing global sustainability. The course emphasises minimising waste through altered production processes and the strategic choice of materials. By capturing the resource value of waste through recovery and recycling, graduates help manage natural resources to meet competing societal objectives.
