Fine Arts from Kean University is distinguished by individualized advising and mentoring. The students learn how to develop and market their art from working artists who are leaders in their fields.

Kean fine arts majors exhibit their work in the University’s many galleries and enjoy trips to world-renowned museums in New York City, a global center for the visual arts. Internship opportunities are available in local galleries, arts centers, businesses and artists' studios, paving the way for our students' professional success.

What You Learn

In Kean’s fine arts program, you will acquire and apply a well-rounded knowledge of art history, theory and techniques.

Create visual art in different mediums using a variety of methods, including drawing, painting, computer art, illustration, ceramics, sculpture, photography, metals and jewelry, printmaking, woodworking and furniture

Develop an artist’s portfolio and learn how to market, sell and exhibit your work

Hone your creative and critical thinking skills and enhance your ability to communicate effectively

Study with faculty who are working artists and provide expert instruction and mentoring

Intern with local galleries, arts centers, businesses and artists’ studios

Complete a Kean University Online Application.
You will have an opportunity to pay the application fee of $75.00 directly through the online application. Once you've completed the application, submit both the application and the application fee.
An official high school transcript evaluation. Applicants must submit a course-by-course evaluation (with GPA) of their official high school (Secondary School) transcript or mark sheet.
Regardless of U.S. residency status, an English proficiency examination is required of all students whose secondary schooling has been outside the U.S. in a country where English is not the principal language.
Two (2) letters of recommendation, in English. Letters may be from teachers, counselors, employers, coaches, etc.
Personal essay (1-2 pages), in English, expressing your educational and professional career goals.
