Overview

After taking courses such as exercise testing and physiology, biomechanics, and sports and fitness management, you will participate in internships focused on rehabilitation and fitness.

In the Exercise Science and Pre-Physical Therapy program of Texas Woman's University, which is offered on our Denton campus, you will take a specific set of prerequisite courses designed for those who want to enter the physical therapy profession.

Careers & Salaries

You will need to earn at least a master’s degree and state licensure to become a practicing physical therapist. TWU is nationally recognized for its doctoral PT program.

As a physical therapist, you may be a generalist or choose to specialize in various areas of patient care such as orthopedics, sports medicine, pediatrics, women’s health and long-term rehabilitation.

This program highlights experiential learning — or learning by doing. You’ll use state-of-the-art equipment in on-campus labs. Plus, you will get hands-on experience analyzing motion in a biomechanics lab, measuring oxygen consumption during exercise, and reading electrocardiograms in the exercise physiology lab.
