The Spanish BA program from Skidmore College is committed to the study of cultures and languages as indispensable to building the intercultural competencies our students need to thrive in a globalized world. Language learning entails a powerful encounter with difference that provides insights well beyond what AI translation can offer.

In the classes, through the analysis of cultural production, including literature and film, students learn to define and decenter their perspectives, to interpret the subtleties of human expression, and to communicate across cultures. These are transferable skills that students can leverage to engage more confidently and ethically as individuals, professionals, and citizens, whatever paths they choose to pursue, at home or abroad.

General requirements

Skidmore accepts the Common Application, Coalition Application, or QuestBridge Application.
All applications must be submitted electronically and must be accompanied by a non-refundable $65 application fee or a request for a fee waiver.
The School Report form and official high school transcript should be submitted within a week of the application deadline.
Midyear grades should be sent as soon as they are available, but no later than mid-February.
Skidmore recommends four years of English, three or more years of mathematics, three or more years of social science, three or more years of science, and three or more years of a world language.
Skidmore College is test-optional and does not require the SAT or ACT for admission.
Two academic teacher evaluation forms should be submitted as early as possible, but no later than a week after the application deadline.
