The International Studies program at Willamette University also equips majors with a grounding in a specific non-English language as a key skill for better comprehending international issues.
International Studies majors are strongly encouraged to take advantage of study abroad opportunities.
Many issues or problems that have been regarded as primarily domestic can no longer be understood or resolved without considering their international or comparative contexts. This is your chance to explore those factors in depth. You’ll discuss topics of international significance as you take courses in history, politics, economics and sociology, while also learning a non-English language. We'll invite you to use a range of perspectives as you examine the contrasting patterns of change in different parts of the world and the dramatic trends of increased interdependence among nations.
Along the way, you can gain hands-on international experience in one of our many study abroad programs. You’ll also explore your interests in an independent research and analysis project.
