Geology majors tend to have a curiosity about the natural world. Many geology students enjoy the outdoors. Some prefer a laboratory environment. Geology is a field with faster-than-average job growth outlook and high average salaries.

The Geology program of Kutztown University provides the practical field experience needed to succeed as a career geologist. The course requirements are designed to parallel the subjects on the Professional Geologist licensing exam. As a Geology major you’ll have plenty of options for one-on-one research projects as well as off-campus internships. Research projects are designed to pull together knowledge from many different courses, resulting in a comprehensive worldview. Of course, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to get out and explore.

Additionally, the student-led Geology Club makes frequent trips to fossil localities, mineral collecting quarries, and museums. The club has traveled to Costa Rica and Peru to see volcanoes and beaches; to West Virginia to go white water rafting, to Arizona to see the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show, and to Kentucky for caving.
