We offer a bachelor degree in History at Tennessee State University. As faculty, we develop the intellectual potential of our majors and minors through course offerings, invited guest speakers, internships, research opportunities, and close mentorship.

Learning Outcomes

Historical Content Knowledge: Demonstrate and apply a comprehensive and accurate understanding of major topics, themes, and developments in U.S. and world history.

Methods: Demonstrate and apply thought and methodologies specific to the discipline of History.

Written Communication: Communicate clearly and effectively in college-level writing, applying standard diction, syntax, usage, grammar, and mechanics.

Original Research and Historical Analysis: Conduct thorough historical research with recourse to both primary and secondary sources, and advance original historical arguments in a well-written essay with appropriate use and citation of these sources.

Notarized Affidavit of support and financial statement. These documents must not be older than six (6) months prior to desired semester of enrollment

Official transcripts from colleges/universities attended in the United States

Official transcripts and authorized school records with a course-by-course listing of courses and grades received; such transcripts must have been evaluated by a foreign educational credential agancy, at the student's expense.
