Key Features

The mechanical engineering program curriculum offers two options: Energy Systems and Mechanical Systems.

The Energy Systems option emphasizes applications of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and heat transfer. The Mechanical Systems option emphasizes applications in the analysis and design of machine elements and mechanisms. Two courses differentiate the two options.

The mechanical engineering program faculty have degrees in various emphasis areas of mechanical engineering and are committed to delivering a mechanical engineering curriculum that has strong emphasis on engineering analysis tools, utilization of modern, electronic instrumentation culminating with a mechanical engineering and interdisciplinary design experience.

Career Opportunities

Mechanical Design Engineer: Create and refine mechanical components and systems for products in transportation, manufacturing, and consumer goods.

Automotive Engineer: Work on the development of vehicles, including traditional engines, electric drivetrains, and autonomous systems.

Aerospace Engineer: Contribute to the design and testing of aircraft, satellites, and propulsion systems.

Energy Systems Engineer: Design and maintain power generation systems, including wind turbines, solar panels, and thermal systems.

Robotics Engineer: Develop robotic systems for manufacturing, healthcare, or exploration.

HVAC Engineer: Design efficient heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for buildings and industrial spaces.
