Overview
The four-year Nursing program begins with pre-professional classes in the liberal arts, which you can take at another institution. Then you will begin to take classes in nursing at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and gain clinical experience in hospitals and clinics. Upon graduation, you will be ready to work as a generalist in the field.
What you'll learn
The four-year program leads to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The curriculum is designed in two phases: (1) pre-professional requirements may be completed at a junior college or another university.
The program provides the foundation of a liberal arts education as well as the nursing theory and science necessary for the full scope of professional nursing responsibilities and the knowledge base necessary for advanced education in specialized clinical practice.
The knowledge base in nursing theory and science is applied through extensive clinical experiences in medical/health care delivery systems that range in size and services from large area hospitals, to community clinics, to homes. Your nursing courses are structured so that you are concurrently enroll in a nursing theory course focused on understanding the science of health and disease conditions and a clinical course that permits your integration application of the science in the clinical setting.
