Overview

Our approach allows you to learn a language in a multimedia environment, with upper-level courses in literature, film, society and more, furthering our mission of exposing students to new cultures and developing tolerance for difference. Our Study Abroad program offers opportunities for you to enhance the classroom experience with a semester spent in Jordan, Austria, Italy – or a number of other spots around the globe.

General Requirements

  • The Department of Modern Languages and Literature offers the Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in French and Spanish, and cooperates in offering majors and minors in Italian studies, Latin American studies, European studies and Asian studies.
  • Minors are available in French, German, Italian, and Spanish.
  • Gonzaga also offers programs of study in Paris, France; Florence, Italy; Granada, Spain; Cuernavaca, Mexico; Tokyo and Akita, Japan; and Graz, Austria.
  • Students earning all Bachelor’s degrees offered by the College of Arts and Sciences must complete a language requirement.
