Overview

The Mechanical Engineering program of the Georgia Southern University is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. The first three years of the program may be completed on the Armstrong Campus. However, the degree must be completed on the Statesboro Campus.

Mechanical Engineering is arguably the broadest engineering degree, one that emphasizes the fundamental engineering sciences as they apply to mechanical and thermal systems with applications in diverse areas, including energy, materials, transportation, health, manufacturing, and consumer products.

Within a few years of graduation, graduates of the BSME program will:

be satisfactorily employed in professional mechanical engineering-related careers that utilize their knowledge, applied technical skills and applied problem-solving abilities
use their technical, analytical, interpersonal, leadership, professional and communication skills to advance in their careers and contribute towards the sustainable development of the region and beyond, and
remain professionally current and engage in the pursuit of life-long learning.
