Overview

Computer Information Systems students at the Eastern Michigan University learn about interoperability and explore road maps with products and technologies such as instant messaging, live communications, workflows, and portals. Students also learn how to integrate the organizations’ applications and processes, perform business-to-business communications, and develop comprehensive and reliable e-business solutions.

Students will acquire technical skills and learn how to analyze, design, implement, evaluate, and manage information systems. Students will also have the opportunity to work effectively on teams to gain insight into using information systems as a business decision‐making resource and understand how it relates to other business functions. Before graduation, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experiences through internships and co‐op programs.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, careers in the Computer Information Systems major are rated as one of the fastest-growing professions. Our Computer Information Systems graduates pursue professional careers as a system and business analysts, business application developers, web and mobile application developers, database developers, network administrators, and project managers. Other career paths may include ERP consultants, security analysts, technology consultants, software support technicians, and software testers.
