About

Through the study of the laws supporting governmental, commercial, and nonprofit enterprises, students gain insight into decision-making in various sectors of the economy. The major courses include ethics, general business law, and sector-specific law courses, such as Legal Aspects of Health Organizations.

The program prepares students to analyze complex problems, think critically, work collaboratively and communicate effectively through course work and related activities like internships. Students develop the skills needed in today’s workplaces, including synthesizing information, identifying factual and legal issues and policy considerations, and analogizing and developing persuasive arguments based on ethics, public policy, and law.

Opportunities

By learning to apply concepts from law, business and the liberal arts to real-world issues, students will prepare for myriad careers, including government regulation, personnel, purchasing, financial services, law office administration, judicial and legislative support, not-for-profit organizations, labor relations, collective bargaining, agency, negotiation, dispute resolution, real estate, contract administration and entrepreneurial endeavors.  The program provides a solid basis for advanced degrees in law, public administration and business.
