The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department’s mission is to provide graduates that meet society’s current and future technical needs by delivering quality and accessible education, to promote creation and dissemination of knowledge, and to serve society and economic development through professional practice and community outreach, locally and globally.

What is Computer Engineering and what do Computer Engineers do?

From microchips to smart phones to game consoles to computers, Computer Engineers truly make the future come alive. Little wonder that computer engineering has growing numbers of job openings! Computer Engineers study both computer software and computer hardware, increasing their versatility and employability.

Outcomes

Graduates of the Computer Engineering Program at the University of South Alabama will have:

an ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
an ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
an ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences
an ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.
an ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.
an ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.

University of South Alabama International Application for Admission with the $35 processing fee
Academic records detailing course work completed in secondary schools with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 as calculated by the Office of International Admissions and Student Programs

English Proficiency Requirement

Applicants who are a citizens of or have completed secondary education in a country exempt from providing proof of English proficiency have the option to submit either and ACT (overall score of 19), SAT (overall score of 990), or English Proficiency Exam from the list above

Deposits - A non-refundable admissions deposit of $500 USD will be required of a student before an I-20 or DS-2019 is issued.
