Areas of Focus at Bachelor Geography and Land Surveying of Towson UniversityIn addition to emphasizing global knowledge, our areas of focus include:

Geospatial technology, including geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, aerial photography, and cartography
Human geography, including urban, population, and social geography, human security, and resource management
Physical geography, including meteorology, climatology, hydrology, biogeography, and geomorphology

Our students learn statistics, problem-solving skills, how to make maps, and how to interpret satellite imagery, to name just a few specific skills. Our interdisciplinary approach prepares students to be expert geographers and global citizens.

State of the Art Facilities

Our facilities provide students with everything they need to excel in the geographic field. We have multiple GIS labs equipped with essential software, including ArcGIS, IDRISI Selva, SPSS, Excel, and Google Earth.

Learn the latest techniques, skills, and tools required to conduct land surveying. The major in geography and land surveying is based on a transfer articulation agreement between the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC)-Catonsville and Towson University. Most students complete the associate’s degree in Land Surveying at CCBC-Catonsville before enrolling at Towson. All surveying courses taken at CCBC will transfer. However, Towson University will only accept a maximum of 64 total units in transfer. Any remaining core requirements will be completed at Towson University. Students beginning the program at Towson complete their last year at CCBC to complete the requirements for the associate’s degree in land surveying.
