The Applied Arts and Sciences program at Sam Houston State University allows students to develop a program of study specific to their career and educational goals.

Learning outcomes

An internship or work-based mentorship is intended to provide experience-based learning opportunities for students in their respective discipline of study. Internships and mentorships are an option for all BAAS students and require departmental approval. BAAS students can receive three hours of credit per semester for up to nine hours total. An internship or mentorship is required for BAAS students who did not complete a field experience to earn their AAS degree.

Programme Structure

Sixty-six semester hours (plus four semester hours of activity physical education) may be transferred from another educational institution. This should include thirty-six hours in-block coursework in an organized technical program.

The specialty title of the Associates of Applied Sciences degree must be posted to the transcript for approval for entry into the BAAS program.

Students MUST be advised by the program coordinator to have transcripts reviewed and a declaration of major/minor submitted before full acceptance into the BAAS program is finalized.
