Overview

In the middle years, the Mechanical Engineering program of Colorado School of Mines offers a four-course project-based design sequence for learning engineering tools such as MATLAB and SolidWorks, providing opportunities to solve problems in a hands-on environment. In their junior and senior years, students tackle an advanced mechanical engineering core that includes fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, numerical methods, control systems, machine design, computer-aided engineering and manufacturing processes. Embedded throughout the program are professional and technical skills such as working in teams, engineering design, technical communication and programming.
