Electrical Engineering at West Virginia University provides a sound education in mathematics and the sciences, a broad foundation in the fundamentals of engineering, elective opportunities to develop expertise in one or more emphasis areas, and the general education necessary to put technical knowledge into perspective.

Theoretical work is complemented by an emphasis on the practice of engineering, and design activity is integrated throughout the curriculum.

Career

The graduates have pursued graduate study at top programs, including Carnegie Mellon University, Johns Hopkins and Virginia Tech, and have placed in industry jobs with manufacturing companies such as GM, Eaton, General Electric and Toyota.

Others have taken positions in the power industry at FirstEnergy, Dominion Resources and Pittsburgh Power and Light. Some graduates hold government jobs with the FBI, Department of Defense and National Security Agency.

Must have at least a 2.5 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.

Must meet English Proficiency or request conditional admission and complete an Intensive English Program (IEP) application.

Please be advised that some Engineering majors may reach capacity and therefore will be restricted from entry.

For direct admission to some colleges and majors, SAT or ACT scores are required and must be sent to WVU directly from the respective testing services. For all other majors, international students are encouraged but not required to submit SAT or ACT scores, if available. SAT/ACT scores are useful for determining scholarship eligibility.
