Overview
Our Mission
The mission of the A. Max Weitzenhoffer School of Musical Theatre is to provide an excellent education, training and varied production experiences to selected students to assure them the opportunity to be artistically competitive on a national level upon graduation from the University of Oklahoma.
The School is committed to the development of new musical properties, cooperating with professional producers, companies and creative leaders in the field, in addition to regularly presenting works from the musical theatre repertoire.
It is a comprehensive and balanced interdisciplinary BFA degree-granting program that collaborates with other units in the Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine Arts.

Academic Requirements
You need the following GPA score:
Required score: 2.5
Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 2.5 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).
Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
General Requirements
- OUMT faculty will be on-site at the cities listed below to audition students in person. In addition, we will host two On-Campus Audition Days where students can audition in person on the University of Oklahoma campus. All applicants must pass the pre-screen phase in order to be invited to audition at any of these venues.
- Submit either the OU Application, Common Application, or Coalition Application. This includes a $40, non-refundable application fee for domestic applicants.
- Official high school transcript that reflects at least six semesters of work completed and includes your GPA computed on an unweighted 4.0 scale and your class rank
