The University of Oklahoma’s School of Meteorology is among the largest in the nation, with over 250 undergraduates and 100 graduate students.

The Meteorology program is ranked first in the nation in mesoscale and severe storms research and is among the top seven programs overall.  A degree in Meteorology leads to employment opportunities in a number of areas, including the National Weather Service, industrial and commercial companies, airlines, utility and insurance companies, and all branches of the military.

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 2.25

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 2.25 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

General Requirements

  • Submit either the OU Application, Common Application, or Coalition Application. This includes a $40, non-refundable application fee for domestic applicants.
  • Official high school transcript that reflects at least six semesters of work completed and includes your GPA computed on an unweighted 4.0 scale and your class rank
  • Official test scores to us through ACT and/or The College Board. Your test scores may also be included on your official high school transcript
  • Letter of recommendation
  • Official copies of any AP or CLEP test scores
