A preceptorship experience is required in the curriculum and can be used as hours toward the AXP™ requirement of licensure. To satisfy this requirement students must remember to enroll in the special zero credit hour course, Arch 4160. As the course description reads:

This preceptorship requirement corresponds with the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards Architectural Experience Program (AXP) and provides students with experience in an architecture office or in a related field. Students must follow the Division’s Preceptorship Program Guidelines in order to verify the appropriate experience is gained and documented.

General requirements

All students applying to graduate programs in the College of Architecture must submit their applications through the Graduate College’s online portal.

All applicants must meet a 3.0 minimum grade point average. Furthermore, Physics and Calculus are required for entry into the professional Masters of Architecture degree options.

Applicants to the 4 semester degree track program may be admitted to the 7 semester program and required to submit documentation related to coursework completed elsewhere in order to gain advanced standing.
The purpose for this stipulation is to comply with standards established by NAAB, which requires evidence that certain learning objectives/criteria have been met in prior coursework.
