Overview

The Interdisciplinary Studies program at University of Nevada, Reno must be carefully constructed and is intended for those students whose academic or career interests fall outside of the scope of existing majors at the University of Nevada, Reno.

As such, students considering a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies must meet with an academic advisor in the Exploratory and Pre-Professional Advising Center to discuss whether the degree is appropriate for their academic and career aspirations. Only after meeting with an academic advisor will a student be able to declare the General Studies degree.

General requirements

To be admitted to an undergraduate degree program as a regular freshman student, you must be a graduate from an approved or accredited high school (GED certificate may not be used for admission) and satisfy the below requirements:

Required high school courses: English, math, social sciences and natural sciences.

You must have a 3.0 weighted GPA in the academic core courses (AGPA) in order to be admitted to the University of Nevada, Reno. The academic courses include: English, math, social sciences and natural sciences.

Standardized test scores are not required for admission to the University of Nevada, Reno. The University accepts the ACT and SAT scores and may use scores for class placement in first-year courses.
If you are a student who does not meet the academic GPA requirements, but have graduated with an Advanced Diploma from a Nevada high school, you will be granted admission to the University.
