What will I learn in a bachelor's degree in finance program?
Students coming from the Finance program of the University of Nevada, Reno have the skills necessary to credibly weigh-in on fiscal matters associated with business investment and stock and mutual fund research and analysis. Moreover, the finance major is a good stepping-stone for students interested in a earning an MBA or other postgraduate degree.
There are two tracks in the finance major: accounting and economics. Each of these emphases require the completion of different courses.

General requirements
To be admitted to an undergraduate degree program as a regular freshman student, you must be a graduate from an approved or accredited high school (GED certificate may not be used for admission) and satisfy the below requirements:
- Required high school courses: English, math, social sciences and natural sciences.
- You must have a 3.0 weighted GPA in the academic core courses (AGPA) in order to be admitted to the University of Nevada, Reno. The academic courses include: English, math, social sciences and natural sciences.
- Standardized test scores are not required for admission to the University of Nevada, Reno. The University accepts the ACT and SAT scores and may use scores for class placement in first-year courses.
- If you are a student who does not meet the academic GPA requirements, but have graduated with an Advanced Diploma from a Nevada high school, you will be granted admission to the University.
