Overview
The Environmental Engineering program at Oregon State University is a rigorous program incorporating course work in civil and chemical engineering, water and wastewater treatment, hazardous substance management, air pollution, and environmental health.
The concept of environmental engineering design is introduced during the freshman year, with most of the design skills developed at the junior and senior level.
Training culminates in a team approach to the solution of open-ended, realistic problems that incorporate aspects of economics, process operation and maintenance, process stability and reliability, and consideration of constraints.

Alumni of the environmental engineering program will be work-ready engineers prepared with the knowledge and skills necessary to solve contemporary environmental engineering problems. Specifically, within a few years of graduation, they will have:
- gained employment in the field of environmental engineering and/or matriculated in an environmental engineering or related graduate or professional program;
- created value by analyzing and designing sustainable solutions to problems involving water, air, and soil pollution abatement and prevention;
- successfully communicated or defended designs and decisions through reference to fundamental concepts of math, science, and engineering;
- facilitated collaboration and built strong professional relationships by working successfully in multi-disciplinary teams and effectively communicating with a diverse group of stakeholders;
- actively participated in professional development activities that demonstrate a commitment to sound professional and ethical practices, and the protection of human health and the environment; and
- achieved Engineer in Training (EIT) certification by passing the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and gained experience relevant for professional licensure.

General requirements
- 3.0 GPA High school diploma or IB Diploma with minimum overall score of 26 or IGCSE 5 subjects with a 3.0 average using NCAA scale (9-7/A=4, 5-6/B/C=3, 4/D/E=2, F/G=1, 3-1/U=0). Subjects must include Math, English, Science, 2 electives.
- English Test Scores must be less than two years old as of the start term requested. Applicants may also use the following achievements to meet the English Requirements for admission to an undergraduate degree program.
- SAT: evidence-based reading/writing score of 560
- ACTE (ACT English) - 21
- Two English composition courses (Writing 121+) with grades C- or better or one English composition and one Speech Communication course (Communication 111+) with grades C- or better, all from a US university.
- IGCSE O or A Level English with a grade of C or better (provisional results not accepted)
- IB Diploma: Language A - Language and Literature (HL) with a minimum score of 5
- AP English L & C - minimum score of 3
