Overview

Rooted in community, the dynamic Design and Visual Communication programme at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee emphasizes experimentation, collaboration and self-expression through design. As a result, It fosters empathy, visual literacy, strategy, and critical thinking across diverse design projects. The study of graphic design, methodologies, modes of production and design histories provides you with the skill sets required to actively participate in visual culture, commerce and communication.

When you pursue a design and visual communication degree at UW-Milwaukee Peck School of the Arts, you collaborate with other students and faculty in a variety of spaces. The aDream Lab, a makerspace equipped with 3D printers, large format vinyl cutter, heat press, large format Epson color printer, laser cutter, vacuum former, VersaSTUDIO desktop inkjet printer/cutter and a breadth of rapid prototyping supplies. There are clean spaces for polishing up your final designs as well as messy spaces for fabricating. You also have access to cameras, light kits, AV equipment, production tools and supplies. A spray booth, documentation lab for photographing work and wood shop are also available.

The bachelor’s application requirements include uploaded copies of transcripts and degree certificates. Applicants should upload copies into their application online.

Admitted students will be required to provide the original documents to upon arrival to campus. There is no need to mail anything directly to UWM during the application process.
