Rigorous academic coursework, combined with hands-on learning experiences, make the Decker School of Nursing graduates exceptional. Prior to graduating, Binghamton University students complete hundreds of hours of off-site clinical rotations in acute-care and community settings as part of coursework.

NOTE: In 2020, the Decker School of Nursing will move to Johnson City, N.Y., joining the University's School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences on an 8-acre Health Sciences and Technology Innovation Park that is being created. The move will give Decker additional space, enabling program expansion and providing much-needed room to meet growing simulation demands. The Nursing program is offered by Binghamton University.

Internships, research opportunities and more

The Decker School houses an Innovative Simulation and Practice Center (ISPC). The ISPC, which is accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, is equipped with a 10-bed hospital ward and three exam rooms where students practice on interactive mannequins that include newborn, pediatric and adult "patients" to simulate real situations.

Areas of faculty research include cardiovascular, children/adolescents, disaster preparedness, education, health promotion, rural health and violence/substance abuse.
