Overview
The Art Education programme at The University of New Mexico provides a robust academic foundation for aspiring educators and artists. This curriculum is designed to integrate practical artmaking with advanced pedagogical theories to prepare students for diverse professional environments.
Students engage in experiential learning that treats artistic practice as a primary form of inquiry. By combining studio work with classroom research, the programme ensures that graduates understand the psychological and cultural dimensions of learning through the visual arts.
The department offers several distinct pathways, including a Bachelor of Arts. These tracks allow students to pursue New Mexico Visual Arts preK-12 Licensure or focus on non-licensure areas such as museum education and community arts administration.
