About the program

Three internships are required prior to student teaching. New Middle Grades Education teams begin in the fall semester and continue for four consecutive semesters.

What's Unique about the School of Education at UNCG?

UNCG is well known for its outstanding teacher education program.
For three consecutive years, UNCG was ranked in the top category of teacher education programs in the N.C. Institutions of Higher Education (IHE) rankings.
A state-of-the-art SELF (Student Educator Learning Factory) Design Studio prepares pre-service teachers for the 21st-century classroom using a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) education lab. Its mission is to create a space where minds come together to imagine, explore, create, and engage in the process of learning without boundaries.
By graduation, students have spent about 1,000 hours in schools in clinical settings.
Pre-service education programs are delivered through cohort-based programs. Students progress through their professional studies in teams of about 25 students under the guidance of a faculty member, retired classroom teacher, or doctoral student, who serves as their field supervisor and weekly seminar leader.
Students receive close personal support from faculty advisers and mentors. Students get extensive feedback in a caring, high-quality environment.

University of North Carolina Greensboro Student Opportunities

All of our majors take 10-hour-per-week internships in the schools for three consecutive semesters, culminating in student teaching in the fourth semester.
Regular engagement in community service activities is made available to students.
