We have been teaching students at our main Wrexham campus since 1887, when we were known as the Wrexham School of Science and Art. We began offering degrees in 1924 and became the Denbighshire Technical Institute in 1927, moving to Regent Street, which now houses our arts and design courses.
In 2008, we gained university status as Glyndwr University, and in 2023 we rebranded as Wrexham University.
Across all programmes we roughly have 9,225 students with 1,500 of those being international.

Our new Enterprise, Engineering and Optics Centre "CanfodAu" is a transformative facility that combines cutting-edge technology, advanced research capabilities, and strong industry collaboration.
Its primary mission is to support innovation in lightweight material manufacturing, renewable energy, and industrial research, while providing valuable training and enterprise support to the local and regional economy. Designed to drive technological progress in North Wales and beyond, the EEOC project offers a comprehensive array of facilities to bridge the gap between academic research and practical industry needs.The Careers and Employability Service at Wrexham University has a wealth of expertise, resources, and opportunities to help you make your career decisions and support you to gain the experience needed to fulfil your potential.

You’ll be able to access support and assistance in a wide range of areas from academic procedures and enrolment, accommodation, and induction through to where to go for health care support, ID card replacement, timetables, graduation and everything in between. If we can’t answer your question ourselves, we are also in the know for who to ask, so we can soon put you in touch with the relevant person within the University.
Wrexham Village offers unrivalled student accommodation. The two purpose built accommodation buildings offer 321 en-suite bedrooms divided into 6, 7 and 8 living quarters that share a fully equipped communal kitchen and living area; perfect for relaxing and socialising with fellow students, friends and colleagues.
Wrexham University's library offers a wide range of information resources to support your studies in a comfortable and flexible learning environment. We have over 100,000 books, DVDs and other learning resources in the Edward Llwyd Centre on the Wrexham Plas Coch Campus.
We have excellent computer facilities located close to where you need them. There are facilities with dedicated course software within subject areas as well as general open access facilities in the library and study areas around campus. A recent investment has expanded our WiFi wireless access across the whole campus, increasing the flexibility of where you can study.

Facilities are vast and diverse, as you’d expect of a main campus. From our engineering facilities tailored to our course specialisms of aeronautics, performance cars, mechanics and electrics through to our dedicated centres to support our education courses; the Centre for the Child, Family and Society; and our creative arts courses.
Wrexham, along with the rest of Wales, is extremely passionate about its sport, which is one of the defining features of this part of the world. Not only is this reflected in the sport and leisure offering at Wrexham University, but the region itself is home to professional and semi-professional sports clubs which offer up some great entertainment for sports fans. There will be ample opportunities to take part and perhaps try something completely different, whilst making some great friends in the process.

Our SU and their team of sabbatical officers host a regular programme of events, including Freshers’ Week celebrations to Summer balls and Christmas parties.
Our Student Bar, The Cent, forms the hub for student entertainment and is a great place to hang out. As you would expect it is a focal point to meet new friends from your course and to go out with your room mates. It is the place to be to relax and socialise on campus.

My overall study from matrix to fsc level is good
I completed an MBA in Healthcare Management remotely part-time over two years off of campus. Virtually, the support was less than if I was taught in person but very easy to ask for help and support and tutors were responsive. A student support team was in contact at least once per month to enquire how you were doing. If you work better with people and groups and struggle with studying independently you may find this degree difficult - a lot of independent study, 90% of the course.
I like that they help students like us who wish to further their education do so by giving us room to seamless application
