About

History

The University has roots going back more than 100 years.  In 1899, Kingston Technical Institute opens, offering courses ranging from Chemistry, Electric Wiring and Building Construction to Nursing, Dressmaking and Clay Modelling.

Education

We are committed to opening higher education up to the whole community; indeed it is an essential part of our ethos. Nearly 60 percent of our students come from homes where they are the first generation to attend a University; more than 50 percent are from black and minority ethnic backgrounds; many commute from home, and many work to support their time at Kingston University.

Research

Kingston University research degrees offer a flexible approach to carrying out research. They allow you to study on a full-time basis or to combine your research studies with employment.

You can also filter by subject area.We carry out a wide range of research activities at Kingston, ranging from traditional academic disciplines to more contemporary problems or developments.

Student services

We provide a range of practical and personal support services to ensure you have the best time learning and living at Kingston University. Our student support services can help you with almost anything in student life, from keeping your health and wealth, to keeping your faith.

 

Housing services

The accommodation team in the Student Life Centre is here to help current and prospective Kingston University students with all aspects of accommodation.

Whether you're applying for a place in halls of residence, looking for somewhere to rent independently, or in need of advice on any accommodation matter, you can call, email, fax or drop in to see us.

The Student Life Centre is open Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 5.30pm (4.30pm on Fridays), all year round. 

Library services

The Library and Learning Services department at Kingston University supports our students and staff in pursuing their learning, teaching and research ambitions.

Our focus is on the delivery of high-quality learning resources and services to students and staff. We support a wide range of information-driven activity from skills support through to innovative online learning experiences. 

ICT services

Information and Technology Services (I&TS) provides facilities and resources for staff and students to support learning and teaching. For IT support the Service Desk is your first point of contact for all requests, queries and issues (faults or problems) concerning Kingston University's IT facilities and service. They can even help you with library queries. 

Medical services

The University Health Centre offers a wide range of services, including sexual health clinics, sports injuries clinics, health advice and vaccinations. You can also access free counselling and stress management workshops. Complementary therapies on offer include: aromatherapy, osteopathy, reflexology, sports massage.

 

Student Life

Campus life

The University has the following campuses: Penrhyn Road – the hub of student activity in Kingston; Kingston Hill – a modern hillside campus set in landscaped gardens; Knights Park – a relaxed and friendly atmosphere in a riverside setting; and Roehampton Vale – a modern building close to Richmond Park. Each campus at Kingston University has its own unique character. Linked together by the University's free intersite bus service they combine state-of-the-art facilities with a friendly study environment.

Sports facilities

We offer a wide range of sporting facilities for our students, whether you are looking to get fit or are a serious athlete. The University's Fitness Centre has a fully equipped gym, plus an aerobics and dance studio. Tolworth Court sports ground has rugby, football and cricket pitches, plus tennis and netball courts for outdoor games. Regional, national and international competitors receive extra support through the Sports Performance Programme.

Student clubs

There are more than 90 student clubs and societies for you to choose from at Kingston University. You can connect with your community, country, faith or political group. You can join up with others in your subject for both educational and entertaining events.Come along to appreciate any variety of films, music, games, food or get together to promote a worthy cause. You can also start your own society and share your ideas with other students.
